The quality of my portrait will be dependent on
the quality of the photograph you supply. I need a photograph that
is clear and close up. Fill the view finder with your subject in
the pose you require. Sometimes an ad-lib or opportunist
photograph can be better as you capture the subject in a pose that
is more typical. |

See the two examples below of portraits
painted from photographs which only captured the subject
area. these are the best for portraits. |

| Basic Tips: |
|
To obtain the best possible
photographs lighting is important.
|
|
It is always best to take your photograph at the same level as the
subject, photographs which look down on the subject can look out
of perspective. |
|
If you are taking your
photographs inside avoid direct sun light through a window,
always have your back to the window when taking your
photograph. Remember always have the light source behind
you. If possible try not to use flash, flash can cause red
eye in your photograph. |
|
When taking photographs outside
avoiding direct sunlight as this may cause your subject to
squint. |
